Our Mission
Much More Than provides an alternative to the conventional approach of most institutions. Our belief is that education is a continuous, holistic phenomenon and that language acquisition is a lifelong process. Consequently, we want to build lasting relationships with our students and develop collaborative techniques for language mastery over time. Our custom courses and immersive programs are personalized and tailored to suit the learning needs and interests of the individual. We structure our tuition and develop our own multi-media materials relating to literature, art, film, history, music and Cornish culture. These innovations in course content form part of an inspirational language learning concept. Our goal is to enrich and empower learners with knowledge, cultural awareness, and the ability to express themselves freely and without limits.
The Teacher
I'm Leon, I was born in Cornwall and I've been teaching English as a foreign language for 16 years at universities and private institutions in Spain, Mexico and The UK. In my younger years, I decided to cultivate my love of literature and studied for an MA in Romanticism at Bristol University. Perhaps it was the effect of studying all those Romantic poets, with their wanderlust and passion for nature, but this lead me to travel abroad to gain a qualification in teaching English to adults (CELTA). The cultural and professional experience I've gained since then have enriched my life and informed my philosophy as a language educator. My values and vision for learning do not conform to those of the conventional, now largely corporate education system. William Blake, the great visionary artist, summed it up perfectly: 'I must create a system of my own, or be enslaved by another man's'.
